Talking Tracks July 2011 - SPV Vinyl Attack
Fans of vinyl should be more than happy with SPV’s ‘Vinyl Attack’ – two albums apiece from the back catalogues of Axel Rudi Pell, Freedom Call and Magnum issued as double LPs in coloured vinyl.
Axel Rudi Pell’s offerings are ‘Mystica’ and ‘Tales Of The Crown’ which have been made available in blue and orange
vinyl respectively. German power metallers Freedom Call clock in with ‘Crystal Empire’ (red vinyl) and ‘Eternity’ (green vinyl), and Magnum’s ‘Brand New Morning’ and ‘Princess Alice And The Broken Arrow’ make an appearance in blue (‘BNM’) and yellow vinyl (‘Princess Alice…’).
They look fabulous, they play beautifully, they are sumptuously packaged, and they are a real treat for the increasing numbers of people who are either getting turned on to or have returned once more to vinyl. Each album is a wonderful addition to any collection.
Freedom Call, incidentally, will be in the UK in November and aim to have a new studio album out in February next year. Magnum are also playing a few dates at the end of the year, and are currently working on ‘Evolution’, a ‘best of’ collection featuring remixes, remasters and re-recordings of the cream of their last ten years. ‘Evolution’ is due in November.
